On Wednesday 31st October, 2012 Liz Schofield and Katie Coomber flew out to South Africa to undertake a crazy cycling challenge in support of The Topsy Foundation. They cycled on average 145km per day – spending over six hours a day in the saddle! Battling steep hills, sprained wrists, countless nosebleeds, 7 punctures and hundreds of miles of road and laughs in sweltering heat, they completed 860km over 6 days to finish in Pretoria on 8th November.
Katie and Liz chose to support Topsy as “it works to empower sufferers and communities that are infected with or affected by HIV and AIDs” and they raised £2143.18. They described the challenge as an “amazing experience” and “one of the best weeks ever”.
